I've heard people say there are three things: "cheap, fast, good" and you can only have 2 out of the three. I like to leave a domain name registered at GoDaddy, but have another company host the site. If I have GoDaddy redirect/forward to my host provider, how will secondary pages appear in the url? i.e., www.website.com will be at GoDaddy, what will a page called stuff.htm look like? www.website.com/stuff.htm? Or will the secondary pages have whatever domain address I get at the hosting site? (www.newhost.com/stuff.htm?) It might be easier to leave everything at GoDaddy, but other hosts offer more for less money.
